At Home With Your Kids - Dating vs. Courtship?
Dating and courtship, are they the same thing?

Dating is a very serious subject that too many
take too lightly. Especially teens.
What is dating for?
To go have some fun with a special friend, someone you can enjoy doing things with.
Courtship, what is it?
To find a marriage partner that you can spend the rest of your life with!
When you enter into a dating relationship
even one for just having fun, you don't realize how easy it
is to get serious before you know it.
Dating is very emotional.
That is why I think teens even up to the age of 19 should
stay in groups of 6 or 10 people to "date."
Making plans for a group to go to the movies relieves
the stress of 'being alone' and can be more rewarding in the long run.
Getting to know the person is far easier when you get to see how they react around other people and in various atmospheres. Getting to really know the person you might spend the rest of your life with is the most
important thing you can do for your relationship.
They will tend to be themselves when in comfortable settings.
Keeping yourselves in groups to date, gives you moral support,
accountability, and takes the pressure off.
Then after you have found that "right" person, you begin to court him or her, which should be a fairly long process, at least one year.
Courtship should not include any sexual contact. Period!
Why ruin a good thing with that kind of pressure.
This is so much better after you are married and
know that your partner is the only one you have ever been with intimatly and likewise
for the other person.
To have a great relationship with someone, you need to be like-minded.
You need to have the same attitude towards the most important things
such as your belief in God, how to handle money, if you want children and when to have them, and such.
Taking your time, and learning how your future spouse thinks, and reacts to life in
general will be very rewarding later, when you won't be surprised by what they do!
Do you have a good idea for a fun 'date' that would be safe and keep it from getting too serious? Please share your ideas.
